When the Soul Aches
When soul aches deep and day turns night, I do not seek my friends' embrace— I turn to God, the only Light, And find in Him my sacred place.
In days like these, too many words Are but an echo through the pain. The grieving soul needs not be heard— What heals a soul is love's domain.
And if you truly are my friend, Then simply hold me, quiet, near. Or pray that this dark night will end, But spare me counsel, spare my ear.
When God, in love, shall touch my heart, The day will shine like sun once more. Only He knows what is my part, Only He understands my core.
But if your spirit still lies weak, Then hurry to your trusted friends And hear the wisdom that they speak— Then yours is but a chill that mends, And warming love from friends will heal what rends.
