Cherish Your Friends

Lyubov Bondarenko

If you wish to know if a friend is true? Don't call on him in darkest days… He'll come to you himself by chance, as if by fate, And gift you even just a drop of love.

A true one will always come to your aid, But a false one will find excuse, Or say: "I knew not of your misery." You'll see the ice within his eyes…

True friends are rarely found in life, Perhaps the Lord Himself bestows them… If God has given one to you, Then an Angel dwells within your home.

Cherish your friends, the ones that are true, Don't rush to "sever all your bonds," It happens that you won't forgive them, Yet even in quarrels, you must love them still.

Your true friend will tell truth to your face, Though truth can sometimes taste of bitter gall… But always remember that storms will pass, And clouds of grievance melt away.

The wise ones counsel not to trade Your old friends for the new. With ones that's true, even silence is sweet, No words are needed, sometimes none at all.

Cherish your friends, life can be cruel, Hard to survive this world without friends. But if a friend betrays—he was never yours, Let him go, don't mourn his loss.
