In Silence

Aleksei Dunaev

Immersed in you, O silence deep, I dreamed, I pondered, held my breath. If truth the human heart must keep, Then life will test us unto death.

If we desire love's sacred flame, We ourselves must let it grow. Never summon love by name, But walk to meet it, meek and slow.

How fair it is to dream of grace, Speaking with the silence long. Oh, how hard to interlace My weeds with God's eternal song!
