The Ordination of Pastor Loktyev

Mykhayl Loktev

[This section is prose narrative, not poetry, describing a family's history. It recounts how after a tragedy, the father sought solace in prayer and church work, which bore much spiritual fruit. The church grew with new parishioners of various ages and Christian denominations, known for its warm atmosphere and dedicated pastoral care. In October 1963, the church council raised the question of ordaining Pastor Loktyev, recognizing his long service as elder in the Russian Evangelical Christian-Baptist Church. His ordination took place on March 8, 1964, conducted by visiting brothers from the Pacific Association and Southern Baptist Union. This was a momentous occasion for the entire family.

The publisher's note explains that shortly before his passing, Mikhail Danilovich completed his book "River of Faith," which serves as his "Swan Song." The work chronicles the Loktyev family history from 1871 to the present day, encompassing Russian history, emigration, the red terror, wanderings abroad, triumphs and failures, difficult decisions, and finally the finding of a new homeland in California. The book is being published in Russian and English in two editions: a deluxe color hardcover and a black-and-white paperback, with orders accepted through the Mission website.]
