The Lord Calls
Not far from Sacramento, in the small town of Lodi, there broadcast a small Christian radio station on shortwave. It was to this station that Uncle Misha went after our church members voted to create a small recording studio at our prayer house and to establish a Russian-language Christian radio broadcast. The meeting with the station owner went very warmly – he took a liking to the idea of broadcasting the first Christian radio program for the Slavic community. After discussing payment and other details, Uncle Misha signed a contract with him, and soon a weekly radio program called "The Lord Calls" began airing for Russian-speaking residents of Sacramento and neighboring cities.
Uncle Misha headed the broadcast – he organized radio interviews with interesting people, edited materials, and managed work processes, while other family members assisted: I hosted a small program, Yura, my younger brother, accompanied songs and sermons on piano and also sang, Aunt Shura – Uncle Misha's wife – recited poetry with Valya, Vasily's wife, and sang Christian hymns with my Aunt Marusha. This radio program soon became very beloved by residents of Northern California, and new people began arriving at our church, and we received many letters with testimonies from our listeners, which we read on air.
