Our Church
The church built by the Amegins, Granchukovs, and us enjoyed great popularity in Sacramento, as it was the only Baptist church for Russian-speaking people in our county. People from the most distant suburbs of Sacramento came to us to hear God's Word, commune with our church members, and listen to our choir sing.
Our church maintained good neighborly relations with other Russian-language churches. For example, Alexander Shevchuk – a Pentecostal who played an enormous role in building our prayer house, married Nyusa Tkacheva, the daughter of our church treasurer, and gladly attended our services together with his wife.
We also had good relations with Orthodox prayer houses: Boris Nikolayevich and Mikhail Mikhailovich – two Orthodox teachers, came to us and helped us organize special courses at our Brighton Sunday school, where children were taught Russian literature and the Russian language. Thanks to this school, many children from our emigration were able to preserve the Russian language.
