Look, Dear Brother, Upon Golgotha

Vladymyr Shyshko

Look, dear brother, upon Golgotha: There the Messiah hangs, crucified... His hands and feet are pierced with nails, His blood flows down in streams to earth.

See how he suffers in agony— Look at all the hatred gathered near. Yet his gaze shines only with love, For you, O friend, he suffers so.

Look upon the friends of Jesus, All have hidden, weeping far away... If Jesus is your beloved, then hear: Follow him to Golgotha's way.

See how he languishes in thirst... Who will bring him a cup of water? Will you humble your heart in prayer, And hasten to him at Golgotha?

Will you truly abandon Jesus? Will you wander lost in the world? Will you truly reject eternity, And consent to suffer forever?
