Open Now the Door
Open now the door— A wondrous Guest stands at your gate, With his staff He strikes once more: He comes to you—do not wait!
He brings happiness and peace, Confess your sins before His face, From sin's dominion find release— Your joy shall bloom with fullest grace.
Here in sin's desert drear without Christ's light, Unbelief's darkness all around! Yet those who live with Christ in sight, Who remember Him are crowned: They shine with radiant, brilliant light.
Here in this earthly waste, You are stranger to the world. Prodigal son! Cast off in haste The chains of decay long furled!
An hour will pass, the Guest will go... You'll lock the gate and bar it tight... Yet know, though rich with overflow— Weep or laugh, it matters not— The miser becomes poor one day, though bright.
