Olesya Perepelkina
I was born into a simple working-class family in the beautiful, green city of Vinnytsia, which remains my small homeland to this day. I heard about God from my grandmother from early childhood. I would ask her questions, but she couldn't tell me much because she didn't have a Bible. Those were the days of atheism. One day, after answering a teacher's question about the spring holidays, I talked about Easter. The whole class ridiculed me. I became a believer at a young age. I worked as a teacher organizer. Sometimes believers would come to the school and give lectures about God. That's how I acquired a small blue booklet, "The New Testament," and a brochure, "The 4 Spiritual Laws." After reading the brochure with great interest, I sincerely and heartily addressed Jesus with the words of the prayer written on the last page. Several years later, God, through His wondrous means, brought me into His family—an evangelical church where my husband, I, and my two sons still live and serve. I've been writing poetry since childhood, and when I came to faith, I began writing about Jesus and for Jesus. My dream and prayer for many years was to publish my poems, "Cast Your Bread Upon the Water," so that what God has given me might serve as encouragement and a closer connection with God to others. Through this almanac, God is doing this, to my joy and to the glory of the Lord!
