When the Rear Is Not Protected
Terrible it is when your rear is exposed, When he who should be your shield Attacks you from behind, Siding with your enemy.
And you—a sincere warrior of Christ, Wounded, unable to labor, Yet surely you shall be healed, Return to ranks, though bearing scars.
So vital to guard what we speak, To labor diligently in Jesus' deeds, To aid another, not to judge, Never speak evil of anyone.
Deadly poison lurks upon the lips, Making enemies of Christ's own, Absorbing the filth of others' sins, Destroying fraternal love.
Wounding from behind with deadly blow— Without Christ, you would be lost, The devil rejoices, for discord Is the very soil of his work.
Let unity dwell among the saints, Let Jesus' light shine forth in them, Let forgiveness, love, and purity Unite us at the cross.
