October Returns Again

Leontiy Zhidkov

October returns again to us. The air so sweet, you'd drink it down. For the hundredth time I say once more: "I love you!" ... And now

You are the same as you were then, Only your hair is slightly whiter. And still that same star shines out there, The one I called yours long ago.

I am ready to share with you This fresh native dawn... I lack the words to say it all, God grant I have the years enough...

October returns again... I want To share each day with you... Though sometimes sadness touches me... How can one live in this world without it?!

God gave us to each other, Like two wings to a crane. Forgive my uneven verse... I love you... I love you...

Like a song they ring in my soul, These tender words. Like an albatross in a turn, Barely touching the waves...

I am ready to repeat again and again The magic of these brief words. October returns again to us... Love awakens in our hearts!
