On Human Standards of Judgment

Svetlana Terebylyna

By human standards I am weighed, By their criteria and measure. Let me not, O Lord, be swayed By praise or blame's displeasure.

Let me be nourished by Your truth alone, Reminding my heart each evening clear, That I must cast aside and drown All that opposes what You hold dear.

And cherish Your judgment so, That, seeking not to please another's sight, I follow You, let Your will flow, And sever bonds that bind me tight.

Let not my attention be caught By anyone's success or fall. I have what must be fought and sought, A purpose in my soul's call.

Though enemies cast stones like rain, Grant me to walk with steadfast sight, To treasure Your judgment's reign, Lest I despair or seek delight.
