Psalm 61

Konstantyn Honcharov

1. To the Chief Musician upon Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul in silence rests on God alone, From Him my salvation comes, my strength, my own.

2. He is my rock, my fortress and my shield, My savior true, on whom I safely yield; I shall not be shaken, steadfast I shall stand.

3. How long will you assault a man with lies? Like a leaning wall you'll fall before my eyes, A fence about to crumble to the ground.

4. They plot to cast him down from his high place, Delight in falsehood, speak with blessed grace, Yet curse him in the chambers of their heart.

5. Rest in God alone, O my weary soul! On Him my hope depends, He makes me whole.

6. He is my rock, my fortress and my shield, My salvation sure, on which I safely yield; I shall not be shaken, I stand secure.

7. In God rests my deliverance and my fame, The strength of all my power bears His name, My refuge ever in the Lord Most High.

8. O people, trust in Him at every hour, Pour out your hearts before His saving power; God is our refuge, steadfast and our own.

9. The sons of men are but a fleeting breath, The children of the mighty—naught but death; Placed upon the scales, together lighter still than air.

10. Trust not in robbery or stolen gain, If riches multiply, let not your heart remain; Set not your affection on the wealth you see.

11. Once God has spoken, and I heard it clear, That power belongs to Him, this truth I hear;

12. And mercy, Lord, belongs to Thee alone, For Thou repay'st to each according to his own.
