Our Thoughts

Vera Savchenko

There are thoughts that grieve us— Sometimes we cannot hide our sorrow; They distract us from God, And later lead us to hell.

There are thoughts that sustain us In the harsh sea of life, They direct us to the Almighty— They ease our pain.

What do we always ponder In a world that has prospered in evil? The Bible urges us all To think of Him Who Suffered.

Great power is hidden In a single thought of Him. Golgotha lit the way for us With the bright ray of suffering.

And in difficulties, in failures, The thought of Christ will help us, In life's heavy tasks He will give us wisdom in simplicity.

Ponder Him Who Suffered, He who suffered innocently, God, burning with love, Who gave His life for the lost.

Ponder Him Who Suffered, Though we have no strength left to endure, The Lord God, who knew how To grieve silently, without complaint.

Great praise to Him Who Suffered, Praise to Jesus Christ. Thou hast opened for us the path to eternity, Raised us to heaven's height.
