What Warms Us
Not only from the wind so cold and drear Does chill sometimes pierce through our weary soul, But also from a word of cruelty severe Can freezing penetration take its toll.
From sharpness, from indifference's blight We're cold as in the depths of winter's frost, But kindness and warm welcome bring us light And thaw the chill that left us tempest-tossed.
A gentle word, like sunshine's gentle ray, Calls us to fellowship, to unity— A heartfelt word, a seed in fertile clay, Bears fruit when grown to its maturity.
Attention from our loved ones warms us through, From family and friends so dear and near, And suddenly there blooms a wish anew To love all people far and far and dear.
Care seasoned well with love's authentic grace Brings joy and warmth unto our hearts' deep core, And kindness, ever rightly set in place, Yields harvests rich and bountiful and more.
There is true generosity and care, They warm us always, every single day, With them relationships remain so fair, And cold can never drive such bonds away.
Oh, may the Lord Most High grant us the will To radiate our warmth to everyone, From freezing cold and every bitter chill To rescue those we love beneath the sun.
