When Jesus Comes
"Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side of the lake, while he dismissed the crowd." Matt. 14:22
The storm grows fierce, the waves' cruel rage Threatens the fishermen's fragile boat, A cry of anguish echoes from its cage: "O Jesus, where are You? We choke and float!
You sent us on this perilous way, Against our will we journey through the night, Will You permit us here to stay And drown within this tempest's furious might?"
The hurricane roars ever stronger still, As if attacking with deliberate aim. Then—through the storm they see, until— Jesus approaching, steady, without shame…
We know this trial all too well, When fear and anguish grip the soul. Then Jesus comes—and with Him, quell The storm; He makes the spirit whole.
The azure sky shines bright once more Through all our clouds of grief and pain… In heaven there will be no roar, With Christ we'll know a bright domain!
