The Laborers

Halyna Vezykova

Do you know laborers?! I know them well, Tireless they are until the end, Their task is not of earthly origin— To warm the hearts that freeze in ice.

What stirs them in their life is no mere chance— The need to do the works of God, They radiate Christ's love divine, The love that saved them from their death.

They're always ready to serve, Though the world stands hardened in its rage, And only the story of Christ's love Can melt the glaciers of eternal frost.

And there they are, where need exists today, In labor for the Kingdom leaving trace, Like faithful messengers of God, Who represent the heavens here on earth.

And the expression "If God permits" Can never be mere formality! The wish: "Thy will be done!" Defines the laborer's way of life.

Oh, if only we could honor His great trust, To be among God's servants is a gift sublime! Let us be even the clumsiest apprentice To Him who made the world by speaking it.
