A Favorable Summer

Halyna Vezykova

You crown the summer of Your goodness With gifts abundant and generous, And with each day the sun burns brighter, And rain is sent—belated or in time.

How can we be ungrateful then, To take for granted Heaven's care— Creator of the worlds, Judge of all fates, He whose mercy stays forever with us?!

Diseases, cataclysms, and despair, The fires, hurricanes, and floods In multitudes as never before, Yet still the day of salvation lasts.

And God's own grace continues on To save us through this summer blessed. How can we keep our silence then And not speak forth of Christ?!

God grant we live without guilt's weight— It seems this summer will soon end; Let no one say with bitter scorn: "Summer has passed—and we're not saved!"
