Look Upon Your Enemies Through Golgotha's Cross
Look upon the treacherous and spiteful, The bloodthirsty, hardened deep inside, Upon those who wronged you in their anger, Through the cross of Golgotha's sacrifice wide.
It is hard to be a wicked man, Sin devours them like a terrible plague, Pity them—they perish, they are lost, Taking bold steps toward their grave.
And when we notice their crude deeds, It is hard for us to understand, Even to think it fills us with dread, That the Lord came to save such as these.
Yes, to those broken down by sin, Whom all people spit upon and scorn, He, touching them with gentle hands, Gives abundant life anew and reborn.
Even to those who crucified their God, Who rejected truth so holy and divine, Those whom people drove away for shame, The crowd rejecting them, left to decline—
The loving, Almighty Savior Transforms their hardened hearts to stone, He alone gives life renewed and endless, Will not turn them from His throne!
Upon the terrible, unwanted ones, The hardened, dirty, dead within, Those lost and never knowing God— Look through Golgotha's cross again!
