Mary Magdalene and Christ

Aleksandr Zaletsky

No, not with morning's gentle dew— But with a maiden's bitter tear Does dawn wash clean anew.

Mary Magdalene:

—I came to the tomb at early light To anoint the wounds of Christ, But Jesus in the tomb—he's not there.

Is it dream or illusion? Here lies only empty linen... A shadow flickers in the depths.

O keeper of this place of sorrow, Where is my beloved Master? Answer me, I pray!

Jesus Christ:

—Shed no tears in vain, Maria, Hasten to your friends, Maria, Tell them all that has come to pass.

God's Word is now fulfilled: Among the dead there lives no one, I was slain—and see, I live!

Blessed are you, Maria, Grace-filled Maria, Believe with your heart in Truth:

On the third day I rose forever! For all on earth and in the heavens I am the door to God's Kingdom!...
