I Believe That Love Exists
I believe that love exists— That treasure which all seek. Christ shed His blood for mankind, Yet people still do not know That happiness is hidden in God, And only He gives peace to the heart. With Christ, the earthly way is easy, Sin alone brings us troubles. Man searches all his life For what he cannot find. In this world there is no happiness— We see only its traces, Which, like a mirage, disappear When we draw near to them. Beneath their burdens all do sigh— Through ages still that groaning echoes. And ever louder rings the sound— A crane's anxious, troubled cry, That has no strength left to fly, Forgetting where its home might be. In vain do people seek happiness, Those who have loved sin and evil. This path leads them nowhere, What is now has been before. Nothing earthly brings people joy, All bear a heaviness of heart. Only Christ, only He can comfort, But you—do not then sin. He will embrace your sinful soul That goes to nowhere. No, do not go! God from the sea makes dry land, And from deserts—flowing streams of water. And only He can give true happiness, Can warm and fill all of life! Sometimes it seems easier for us To choose not God's holiness, but trash. That filth the world offers us— False happiness without the Creator. The soul will never feel Goodness and peace without the Father. Without our Father, Whom we love, Who loved us with a true love, Who gave His own dear Son, So that each might live forever. In Jesus is happiness, in Him alone Is all that people long to find. From the heart God takes away all weariness, And pain from the soul that crushes the breast. I believe that Love exists, That lifts the heavy burden away, Only Christ's pure blood Can wash away all sin. And in this is all my happiness, Though often I am worn with sorrow. I believe, O God, that You exist, Grant me strength to follow only You!
