Service to God
Service to God is not a trade, Not ritual, custom, or ceremony. It's darkness overcome, sin's cascade, Bringing God's peace and order to harmony. To give the light to those who stray And cannot find the truth they seek, To lift the fallen on their way, So they may walk with steps not weak. To be the salt, the earth's true core, And guard this world from sin's disease, So in our hearts, on hallowed floor, God's Word may grow and bring us peace. To be the least among us all, In humble joy to serve our neighbor, For He who answers Heaven's call Made Himself servant through His labor. He washed the feet of those He taught— The King of kings in lowliness! For service to God's not what's sought As boasts of deeds or righteousness. God wants His Word within your heart, The seed He left for you to treasure, To live, to grow, to take its part— This is true service beyond measure.
