Mother Dear

"Dear Mother, my beloved mother! Look, the night beyond the pane.— I ask you sincerely, mother dear: It's time for us both to pray. Let's kneel together, mother sweet, Open to the Lord our hearts. Blessed is this sacred moment. Let our souls to Father start. Let us offer praise to God, Lift our hymns to Jesus high, And beseech the Holy One above, To give us all happiness, we cry."

When a child like this does pray, I believe the Savior hears her words, For children are His family, I say. How sincerely God loves all of us!

Pray, O Ukraine! Pray to God, O Ukraine! Pray, do pray, my native land! Bow your heart and bend your knee, So that the Holy One will understand.

And confess your sin before God, From the mire cleanse your soul, Leave all transgressions at the threshold, Desire to change—that is your goal.

Pray to God, my precious nation, In tears that true repentance brings, Ask of Him for consolation— He will change your fate of things.

Pray, O beloved Ukraine! Pray for all your children dear, That within their souls a change will reign: That bitter weeping replace the sneer.

Pray for your children, gentle mother, And from heaven in its grace, The Holy Power will cover another, Give us blessing and give us space.
