Bright Memory to All Taken Too Soon

Tatyana Butaeva

Bright memory to all taken too soon In this war departed…

Tomorrow spring will come again… But I breathe not its air… For my native land I am aching— For she, like a mother, is but one!

Tomorrow spring will come again… The sticky heaviness melts away, And sad landscapes spread everywhere, Yet sleep eludes through the night.

Tomorrow spring will come again… Summer waits just within reach. Let them cease their shooting! Enough—the war is complete!

Tomorrow spring will come again… But rain cannot wash away the blood of the slain. They sing with angelic voices, And in their souls—ETERNAL SPRING…

Tomorrow spring will come again… Let it then be radiant! Crowned with yellow-and-blue ribbons… And war shall end forever…
