Prayer Draws Near to God

Serhei Kushnar

Prayer draws near to God, The soul desires to give Him thanks, Do not whisper a word about yourself to Him, Only humbly keep silent.

*[Biographical note: Sergey was born in 1961 in Novorossiysk, Russia, but considers Kazakhstan his homeland, where he moved with his parents, grew up, was baptized, married, and had his children. Growing up in a Christian family, he attended the EHB church from childhood. "For me this is an unforgettable, happy time," Sergey recalls.

His family moved to America in December 2000. Currently Sergey works as a truck driver and devotes all his free time to reflections on life and faith, on relationships with the Lord. Somehow poetry began to flow naturally. Then he mentally "encountered" the disciples of Jesus, the heroes of parables, the prodigal son, and this captivated him so that he began to record all these "encounters" by hand in a notebook.

"What I write cannot be called poetry," says the author. "It is simply an individual narration of biblical truths in the first person, in modern stand-up style. This form of presenting information makes biblical stories accessible to listeners. What I recite from memory is my vow to God. Since He gave life and gave memory, I will use it for His Glory."]*
