Vladymyr Shyshko

Vladimir Alexandrovich Shishko was born on January 25, 1937. He was the third child in the large family of Alexander and Elena Shishko, who lived in the village of Tolkachevichi, which is about 65 kilometers from Minsk. It was a difficult and godless time…

In the seventies, persecutions against believers intensified.

But at the end of the 80s, the “iron curtain” was lifted, and a time of changes came. Freedom poured into the country, and believing Christians moved abroad. In the summer of 1989, the Shishko family received an envelope with a gold seal from America. It was an invitation for permanent residence. However, on the day when the family members went to get documents for departure, Vladimir was hit by a car, and he died in the hospital without regaining consciousness. The tragic news spread very quickly throughout the village. Rumors circulated that it was not in the KGB’s interests for him to leave for America, so they staged this accident…

Many of those who communicated with Vladimir Alexandrovich know what an excellent preacher he was. He loved and knew the Scriptures well. His sermons were always very interesting and memorable. He also wrote poems. All his poems in Russian and Belarusian languages are imbued with deep spiritual meaning.

The creative heritage of their grandfather did not leave his descendants, who now live in the USA, indifferent. One of his grandsons, Ilya Grinevich, a well-known lawyer in Sacramento, the capital of California, prepared a book for publication entitled “I CLEARLY SEE THE ROAD TO HEAVEN,” a poetic selection from which we gratefully offer to the readers’ attention.
