Natalia Smolykova

More than 20 years ago, Natalia Smolikova’s family moved to the USA from Russia. The city of Sacramento differs, of course, in lifestyle from Pyatigorsk, where the family used to live. But the proximity of mountains and the heat of the steppes in the vicinity of the Caucasian Mineral Waters is somewhat akin to the valleys of California. And the main common thing is the opportunity to preach the Word of God as diligently in California as in the native land, where Natasha with friends took an active part in the work of the International Gideon Mission. This experience of ministry was very useful to her later, when she herself created a support group in Sacramento for families raising children with developmental disabilities. About this unique public organization, about meetings in families, and about her impressions, Natasha wrote the book “In the World of Special People.” We offer you several chapters from the book in the hope that your hearts will be filled with love, just like the author’s, and you will want to give these special people your care and warmth.
