Leonyd Shatokhyn
He was born in 1952 in Donetsk, Ukraine. Since 2017, he has been living in Sacramento, the capital of California. He began writing poetry in his youth, reflecting in them his spiritual searches, joys, and experiences. Some of them became songs: “I Am Not Worthy of Your Love,” “Youthful Strength,” and others. Later, new songs were mainly created in collaboration with the musical group “Ark” from Donetsk. He often wrote poems dedicated to his friends on the occasion of various significant events: baptism, marriage, send-offs to the army… “I owe a lot to the friends of my Christian youth,” says Leonid. “They truly enriched my life with their spiritual experience, empathy in hours of temptation, and shared joy in good days. That’s why I dedicated my collection of poems to them. I am grateful to God for my Lyudmila, who became not only a loving wife and mother of our 9 children but also a devoted friend. Many poems are dedicated to her.”
