Halyna Loseva-Messmer

Galina was born in St. Petersburg (former Leningrad) in 1962. Her parents survived Stalinist persecutions and World War II, and despite the atheistic culture hostile to believers, they raised Galina in an evangelical Christian home filled with resilience and hope. In her youth, Galina played European handball, and she was offered the opportunity to train professionally. Instead, she chose to follow her dream, get married, and start a family. Eventually, she moved to the Crimean city of Yalta, got married, and gave birth to four sons. As a young mother, Galina experienced great economic difficulties associated with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. In 1997, she immigrated with her family to America. After the death of her husband and the tragic events of 1999, which she writes about, Galina married Peter Messmer, an engineer and farmer. The couple lives in the small village of Interlaken, located between Lakes Cayuga and Seneca in New York State. There, Galina enjoys the amphitheater of nature, the sound of a waterfall, or the sunset over one of the shimmering lakes, which brings her great creative inspiration. Galina and Peter are the founders of “Galina’s Hope.” Their ministry, dedicated to encouraging all who face adversity, pays special attention to women who are subjected to domestic violence. The chapters from the book written by Galina are about this.
