Drew and Kit Coons

Kit and Drew Coons met through Cru when they were Christian missionaries in Nigeria. Later they served in New Zealand and the South Pacific islands. The Coons have been involved in family ministry through FamilyLife (a division of Cru) since 1989. They have spoken at hundreds of FamilyLife events across America and in thirty-nine other countries. They are active members of the FamilyLife Global Resource Department.

Drew received honors degrees in engineering from Auburn University and Georgia Institute of Technology. He worked on the Delta Rocket program and designed critical components for the US space shuttle. Later he worked as a researcher at BASF Corporation and received twenty-three US patents and several international patents.

Kit has an honors degree in education from the University of Minnesota. She is a gifted educator and blogger with an unbroken spirit, regardless of circumstances.

The Coons are also authors of numerous published articles and seven novels that glorify God. The theme of their writing and website is “More Than Ordinary Lives.” In 2020, they moved to Port Orchard, Washington, and are ready to serve churches and other groups free of charge.

About book

Developing quality teachers is an important aspect of expanding the FamilyLife ministry. The style of speaking we teach and encourage for FamilyLife teachers emphasizes humor and personal stories, including stories of our mistakes and weaknesses. This style can set our events apart from typical church services and ultimately help us reach a younger, more secular audience. Someone has said, “It is our personal stories that God uses to touch hearts, and the jokes we tell that attract listeners for the next year.”
