Valentin Siniy

Pastor Valentin Siniy was born in the city of Kherson, in the south of Ukraine, in a family of Baptist Christians, in an era when faith was not just forbidden, but also under close surveillance. It was a time when his family lived on the edge between hope and fear. From childhood, Valentin remembered evenings when parents gathered as a family in the living room to read the Bible. These quiet moments were filled with awe, but also anxiety. Parents often stopped, listening to see if someone was eavesdropping behind the door…

When the Soviet Union collapsed, the author was studying at a polytechnic college. In 1995, the Lord led him to conscious faith. It was a turning point in his life. That same year, after graduating from college, he went to work in Siberia, in the city of Salekhard, where he was involved in construction under extreme frosts. A few years later, he entered the Taurian Christian Institute (TCI). This became the beginning of a new stage in his life. There he not only received a theological education but also met his future wife Lyuba. The young people got married in 2000, and later the Lord blessed them with two wonderful children: son Kirill and daughter Sonya.

He never thought he would write books. But the war, and then life as a displaced person, forced him to record his experiences. The book “The Man Whose Home Was Stolen” is a memoir about the first months of a full-scale war. This book, several chapters of which we present to our readers, is perhaps the confession of an adult man, which is so difficult to pronounce aloud…
